About 2000 years ago
In the town of Nazareth, there lived a young Mary
Who was engauged to Joseph
And one day an angel came and told her of her baby
He would be God’s only son and she must call him Jesus
Over the hills of Galilee
They traveled on donkeys to Bethlehem
To pay the newborn’s taxes
And Mary grew weary and needed a place to rest
No room at the inn only a manger for a nest
On hillside shepherds saw the bright star from the sky
They were not afraid of the angel sent on high
She had some good news a savior had been born
They’ll find him in Bethlehem bring gifts to adorn
Away in the east, Wise men saw the new star
They studied their scrolls
The king wasn’t far
They asked King Herod for the king of the Jews
The wise men were sent out while he devised a ruse
Bring them frankincense, bring them gold, and bring them myrrh
Then bring him back to the thrown so I can call him Jesus
But an angel came and warned the man of Herod’s plot
Don’t go back to the palace or salvation will be lost
So Mary and Joseph took Jesus to Egypt
No harm came to Jesus. Jesus was saved.
